Hey Jaden,
It was great to hear from you, thanks for the letter. This first week of school has been very busy so far. I've really enjoyed my my Public Relations classes; they are very interesting and I feel like I am learning a lot. You were saying that you didn't understand a lot about what Public Relations was about or what I would be doing with my degree. Well to try and keep it as simple as I can, basically I will be working with a company, or companies, to help them adapt to the changes in society, culture, and technology.
That probably sounds like something right out of a text book. Honestly, what I am seeking to use my degree for is to find a position within a company where I can express my opinions about where the company should look for sources of public exposure and further promote the products they provide. Obviously the world of technology is changing almost daily, I would be working hand in hand with companies on how to understand and utilize new technologies to their adantage.
There is one more piece of Public Relations that is very interesting to me and one that I will seek to utilize with my degree: working with a non-profit organization. This could be a very rewarding aspect of Public Relations, being able to help an organization get established within the public and community seeking to benefit others who are in need or seeking information. My degree would allow me to know how to effectively and efficiently help such organizations become recognizable ot the public and what they are seeking to achieve.
Once again I probably sound a bit like a text book. To better help you konw more about the field of Public Relations and all that it encompasses, here are a few links to websites that will give you more information that what I have given you within this letter.

It was great hearing from you. I hope that this shed at least a little light on what it is that I am going to school for and what I am seeking to accomplish once I have obtained my degree.
Love you J,

Couper,
ReplyDeleteI thought your letter was straight forward and to the point. I can see a person who does not know what the profession entails, understanding by your simple description. I also liked that included the social aspect of the profession and that it is continually changing by the the advancements in technology. Meaning that our careers are forever going to be changed! Good job!
I think thats awesome that you want to work for a non profit organization because I think it would be helpful to work for something that has meaning and that you can feel good doing.
